New members are always welcome. The Sports Boosters meet on the third Wednesday of every month at 7:00 a.m. in the Large Instruction Room 111 at Mt. Pleasant High School. The group discusses upcoming events, considers athletic funding requests, learns about the accomplishments of our student-athletes, and plans for the future of the MPHS and West Intermediate athletic programs. If 7:00 a.m. meetings aren’t your style, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved!
Fundrasing Activities
The Sports Booster organization currently sponsors three major fundraisers each year.
The FALL DISCOUNT CARD SALE kicks off in early August and is the only fundraiser in which the Sports Boosters ask the student-athletes to participate in fundraising. All sports (fall, winter, and spring) participate in selling the discount cards to their friends, relatives, and neighbors. The Fall Discount Card Sale ends with "Blitz Night" in early September. A fun evening of a final push of sales and the highest student-athlete and team sellers winning prizes. To date, the Fall 2011 discount card sale has generated over $29,000 in revenue!
Our second major fundraiser, the annual WINTER AUCTION will take place on January 22, 2011 from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. at the at the Comfort Inn Conference Center in Mount Pleasant. The winter auction is a great time for parents/guardians, relatives, MPPS staff, and community members to have a great time and support our student-athletes, coaches, and our Oiler athletic programs. Highlights of the winter auction include a raffle and fun games, a silent auction, live auction, and tons of fun!! The 2010 Winter Auction generated over $47,000 in revenue.
Finally, our third fundraiser, and new to the Sports Booster organization this year, the Sports Boosters partnered with the MPHS Hall of Fame committee to sponsor the annual HALL OF FAME GOLF OUTING. This annual event is held in late June and is a chance for the serious golfer and weekend duffers to get together, play some not so serious golf, and benefit our student-athlete scholarship recipients. . A tentative date of Wednesday, June 29, 2011 is being planned.
Fundraising on a Smaller Scale. The Sports Boosters also operate the concession stands and organize the 50/50 drawings at all MPHS and West Intermediate athletic events. These two activities each provide the remainder of our funds.
Fully 100% of Sports Boosters fundraising proceeds benefit MPHS and West Intermediate sports-related activities and our student-athletes. Each year the Sports Boosters contribute tens of thousands of dollars to support MPHS and West Intermediate athletics. Main areas of contributions include equipment, training supplies, transportation fees, all competition entry fees, uniforms, and much more. Our belief is to support a long tradition of academic and athletic excellence at MPHS and West Intermediate with the health and safety of our student-athletes as our highest priority.
